Mr. Chen is a seasoned entrepreneur who has founded more than a dozen companies, including Cascade Communications (NASDAQ IPO), Cameo Communications (Taiwan IPO), GaoHong (China IPO), Xinwei Telecom (China IPO, valued near $30B), Arris Networks (acquired by Cascade), Ardent Communications, Navini Networks (acquired by Cisco), and Shasta Networks (acquired by Nortel). His achievements in operations and entrepreneurship have earned him wide industry recognition, including being featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal as “The Germinator,” named one of the Top Ten Entrepreneurs of 2000 by Red Herring, and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from Optix, as well as being listed among the “Heavyweights in Optical Networks” by Light Reading.
In addition to his entrepreneurial success, Mr. Chen is an accomplished investor. He co-founded Acorn Campus, Genesis Campus, and iD SoftCapital. In 2002, Forbes magazine named him one of the top 100 venture investors in the United States.
Mr. Chen holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida at Gainesville, and pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Science at UC Berkeley.
