John Roche is a Senior Associate at WI Harper based in San Francisco. He focuses on early-stage investments in the Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) sectors across the U.S. and Asia, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and sustainability. At WI Harper, John is responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities, leading due diligence efforts, developing internal investment theses, and supporting portfolio companies on strategic and financial matters.
Prior to joining WI Harper, John was a Senior Associate in Citigroup’s Technology Investment Banking group, where he advised clients across semiconductor design, AI infrastructure, and device manufacturing. His transaction experience includes M&A, IPOs, and structured financings for companies such as Renesas, ARM Holdings, and Advanced Energy.
Previously, John worked in corporate development at Booking Holdings, where he helped lead strategic investments in leading digital platforms such as DiDi, Grab, and Yanolja. He also spent time in private equity at Fortress Investment Group, evaluating investments across the sports, media, and entertainment sectors. John started his career in the TMT investment banking group of Wells Fargo Securities.
John holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in Economics from Davidson College.
