Jackson Hu

Dr. Hu is a 30-year veteran in the semiconductor industry with 25 years in fabless design and 5 years running a foundry. As a serial entrepreneur, he has founded several companies including Verticom and IC Ensemble that were acquired by Western Digital and Via Technology respectively. He had served as the General Manager of S3, a leading personal computer graphics semiconductor company. Dr. Hu was the President and CEO of SiRF Technologies, building it from a start-up company to a GPS chip market leader.

In 2003, he was recruited as the CEO of UMC, the world’s second largest semiconductor foundry. He turned it around and ran it successfully for five years. He also assumed the Chairman and CEO roles in 2006.

Dr. Hu holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana and M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.
