Mr. YK Chu is a Managing Director based in the Taipei office. He oversees WI Harper’s operations and venture capital investments in Taiwan. In addition, Mr. Chu currently serves on Investment Committees of WI Harper Fund VIII, Alibaba Taiwan Entrepreneurs Fund, WIH-Lucion RMB Fund and Innovation Works Development Fund. Mr. Chu’s investments with WI Harper include 21ViaNet (NASDAQ: VNET) and SemiLeds (NASDAQ: LEDS).
Mr. Chu joined WI Harper in 2005. Prior to joining WI Harper, Mr. Chu served as President at Sasson International of MTI Group and was responsible for new venture development and investments in the communications industry. Prior to joining Sasson, Mr. Chu co-founded Taiwan Cellular Corp., and was the General Manager of Iridium Taiwan Gateway’s construction, system development for business operations covering Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, and Papua New Guinea. He also held the positions of Vice President of Walden International, Director of Taiwan Aerospace Corporation, and Vice President of Dynatech Taiwan Corporation.
Mr. Chu has been actively involved in startups development, and was invited by Economic Daily Newspaper since 2016 to write a column on startups in Taiwan, including startups stories, business outlook and future potential from a venture capital perspective.
Mr. Chu holds an ME in Aeronautics and Astronautics from University of Washington, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan.
