Professor Hong Bo earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2001. He was a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2004 to 2005. Since 2005, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tsinghua University School of Medicine, where he is currently a tenured professor and Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Institute for Artificial Intelligence. He also conducts research at the Tsinghua IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research.
His research specializes in brain-computer interfaces and neural encoding of hearing and speech. Professor Hong has co-authored over 60 academic papers and has been invited to present at numerous international conferences, including the IEEE Neural Engineering Conference (2017), ARO Midwinter Annual Meeting (2015), SfN Advances in ECoG Workshop (2013), and NIH Neural Interface Conference BCI Workshop (2010). He serves on editorial boards for IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering and Frontiers in Neuroscience.
